Desmond A. Baker & Associates, LLC., was commissioned to provide MEP and FP engineering services for the following projects.

 

CORESTATES CENTER, Philadelphia, PA - Home of the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA and Flyers of the NHL - Mechanical, electrical and plumbing design documentation for AraMark Food Service Concession Areas.

 

APOLLO SPORTS CENTER, Philadelphia, PA - Home of the Temple University Owls - Mechanical, electrical and plumbing design documentation for Central plant and Ancillary Building exercise wing (including racket ball courts, weight rooms and offices).

 

LEGENDARY BLUE HORIZON – BOXING ARENA

 

Philadelphia, PA - 50,000 GSF Historic (early 1900) building housing boxing, ballrooms, banquet hall and offices.  Desmond A. Baker & Associates, LLC., was responsible for the observations, recommendations and design for the rehabilitation of the mechanical and electrical systems.  Included in our recommendations was a phased construction plan to accommodate the project’s budget and funding constraints.  Specifics of the project include lighting for façade restoration, conversion of steam system to hot water, provisions for new electrical service, provisions for new domestic & fire water services.  Special considerations in system design/construction had to be made while accommodating code violations, a fully operational building, and budget constraint while preserving the historic integrity of the facility.

 

Construction Cost:    $8,000,000 (Phase I = $1.8M, Phase II = $6.2M)

Completion Date:    2002

 

CAMDEN RIVER SHARKS - BALL PARK

 

City of Camden, Reviewed and assisted with the preparation of design build documents for the mechanical systems for the approximate 15,000 seat open area baseball facility.  The design included provisions for heating/cooling of suites, offices and concession areas.  Heating and cooling is provided by gas fired heating with direct expansion cooling equipment.
